Products Liability
Products liability is liability for bodily injury or property damage incurred by a merchant or manufacturer as a consequence of some defect in the product sold or manufactured or the liability incurred by a contractor after he has completed a job as a result of improperly performed work (called completed operations).

Contractors Liability
Contractors liability coverage is typically broken down into two parts: the premises/operations component and the completed operations components. The premises portion provides for payment on your behalf of all sums you become legally obligated to pay as damages resulting from bodily injury and/or property damaged caused by an insured peril and rising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of premises and your operations in progress. The operations portion of the liability product covers operations in progress and is intended for situations where your principal business operations are performed away from your premises.

The completed operations section of the policy covers you for possible liability arising from bodily injury and/or property damage after your work has been completed and you have left the job site.

Pollution Liability
Environmental coverage includes a wide range of products, including:

  • Commercial General Liability
  • Contractors Pollution Liability
  • Professional Liability
  • Site Pollution Liability
  • Excess Follow Form Liability
  • Excess Pollution Liability
  • Builder’s Risk Pollution Liability
  • Products Pollution Liability
  • Manufacturer’s Pollution Liability
  • Auto for Hazardous Materials Haulers
Customers for all lines including general liability include environmental contractors, environmental consultants, environmental facilities (such as landfills and wastewater treatment plants), laboratories and manufacturers. Plus stand alone auto coverage for hazardous materials transporters. Stand-alone pollution coverage is also available for commercial construction, manufacturers, warehousing, property owners, municipalities, schools, universities, and residential construction.

Umbrella/Excess
Excess and Umbrella coverages are designed to provide protection for occurrences which are unexpected, unknown and unintended. Umbrella liability provides broadened coverage to close many of the gaps in your primary liability program. Excess policies take many forms; some common ones include:

  • Stand-Alone Excess
This is a self-contained policy, containing its own terms and conditions.
  • Straight Excess
Commonly called "buffer layer", this is usually used when underlying limits are inadequate (i.e., $1 million).
  • Follow-Form Liability
This type provides exact terms and conditions of the underlying primary liability program; is rarely used today due to conflicts with primary.
  • Conditional Follow-Form Excess
The most common form today, terms and conditions take precedence over those on the primary.

There is also a Combination Excess & Umbrella Policy. This typically uses an "A/B Form", where the "A" is the excess (conditional follow-form), and the "B" is the umbrella. The "A" is first defense. If not applicable, then "B" kicks in, subject to terms and conditions.
