Out & About
People On The Move
Dennis Donovan, Executive Vice President, Professional and Management
Liability Department at S. H. Smith, moderated a Professional
Liability Underwriting Society educational workshop entitled "Current
Events Impacting Executive Liability." This workshop was intended to
update participants on the state of the D&O, EPLI, and Fiduciary
liability market, current legal trends and sales strategies from the
perspectives of both underwriters and producers.
Dennis Donovan attended the sixth annual RSUI Producer Outing,
held for their top producers across the country. This was the
sixth year Dennis has attended. RSUI is a leading underwriter of wholesale specialty insurance
including property, casualty, professional liability and directors and
officers liability coverage.
Seminars & Workshops
We regularly schedule educational seminars, workshops, and
presentations for agents across the country. Here are a few examples.
Environmental Seminars. "Learn How Environmental insurance Can Give
You A Strategic Advantage" is the title of our seminar on writing
environmental risks. Recently held in Minnesota with the ACE
Westchester Specialty Group, this seminar is intended to help agents
better understand the advantages of offering environmental insurance
to their clients. From covering the history of environmental
insurance, to a detailed description of who should purchase
environmental insurance, this seminar has been a resounding success.
D&O Seminars. "How D&O can impact your E&O" is the title of the
seminar for property/casualty insurance agents by S. H. Smith & Co.
that has been held several times this year. D&O coverage can be a
minefield for agents placing these risks on behalf of their clients.
At these in-depth seminars, professionals from S. H. Smith discuss
the comprehensive negotiations needed when placing a D&O risk,
including a review of potential exposures for varying industry types,
as well as an agents own potential exposures. The seminars provide a
wealth of information on policy forms for not-for-profit companies,
private companies, public companies, as well as healthcare
organizations. They also cover the duty owed by an insurance agent,
public litigation statistics, as well as claim reporting issues.
According to Ed Charamut of Royko-Charamut, "It was informative and
of value to attend." This course is eligible for 3 property and
casualty continuing education credits in Connecticut.
